The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Taran signed a decree on the transfer of military personnel called to NATO military rank codes according to the NATO standard STANAG 2116. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense.
"The specified list establishes the correspondence of the codification of the military ranks of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with NATO military ranks. This is another step to ensure compatibility with the armed forces of the member states," said Taran.
According to him, the signed order begins the Euro-Atlantic transformation of the existing personnel management system to manage the careers of servicemen by military rank. In turn, this will become an integral part of the Concept of Military Personnel Policy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine until 2025.
"These decisions are designed to change the Soviet-style career management system to a modern one adopted in the armies of the leading states. In fact, this guide to the actions of the personnel authorities goes to a new philosophy of work, which provides for the creation of a career card for each soldier, sergeant, and officer for his training, growth and support," the head of the defense department noted.
As a reminder, on May 26, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky approved the annual national program under the auspices of Ukraine - NATO. Special attention in the program is paid to the transfer of the security and defense sector of Ukraine to NATO standards and to improving the compatibility of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the armed forces of the member states of the Alliance. One of the goals of the Program is the adaptation and use of NATO standards in the field of defense in accordance with NATO policy.
