Only Ukraine should decide on compromises in this — Stoltenberg

Jens Stoltenberg

This is stated in his interview with the BBC.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Ukraine should decide for itself what compromises it is ready to make in a war with the Russian Federation. This is stated in his interview with the BBC.

Stoltenberg said military support was vital for Ukraine to push out Russian forces and force Russian leader Vladimir Putin to abandon his goals for the occupation, and suggested that Kyiv might also have to make concessions.

"Ultimately, it is Ukraine that must decide what compromises it is ready to make, we must give it the opportunity to be in a position where it really achieves an acceptable result at the negotiating table."

He noted that he is not calling on Ukraine to make concessions now, and added that "real peace" will be achieved when "Ukraine wins."

The NATO Secretary General also stated that there is an "authoritarian" alliance that provides practical support to each other and that is "getting closer and closer," referring to the Russian Federation, China, Iran and North Korea.

"China supports the Russian military economy, supplying key parts for the defense industry, on which Moscow stakes its future on Beijing." Stoltenberg pointed out.
