The strict quarantine, planned from January 8 to 24, 2021, will not be postponed even in the event of a significant reduction in the incidence of COVID-19.
This was reported by Health Minister Maksym Stepanov.
"There will be a strict quarantine from January 8 to January 24. At the end of January, there is an increase in the number of patients with the flu, who have the same complications. We need to enter February with the minimum number of patients with COVID-19. Therefore, there will be no postponement of the strict quarantine in January," he said.
Commenting on the government's decision to extend public polls on New Year's Eve, the minister noted that even if the work was stopped after 1:00 p.m., it would hardly make people disperse.
"The government's decision only applies to the opening hours of catering establishments, other restrictions remain (…) It is unlikely that all restaurants will start closing at 1:00 am. We understand that someone will work until 2:00 a.m., etc.," said Stepanov.
As reported the government allowed restaurants, cafes, and other catering establishments to work on New Year's Eve until 7:00 a.m.
During the second period of the quarantine, which has been extended until the end of February, the work of the general public is prohibited from 23:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. the next day. And during the stricter quarantine period from January 8 to January 24 inclusive, restaurants and cafes will be able to work only for takeout via address delivery.
