The average nominal salary in Ukraine in March 2021 grew to UAH 13, which is UAH 612. more than in February. Compared to March last year, the average nominal salary increased by 1063%. This was reported by the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine.
According to Gosstat data, wage growth compared to March 2020 occurred in almost all types of economic activity (except for the provision of other types of services). In particular, wages in the sphere of healthcare and social assistance (by 52%), temporary accommodation and catering (by 37,2%), art, sports, entertainment and recreation (by 33,8%), education grew at the highest rates. (by 28,8%), operations with real estate (by 22,2%), wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (by 20,4%).
The average salary in March increased in all regions. The greatest growth compared to March last year occurred in Chernivtsi (31,1%), Donetsk (30,1%), Ternopil (26,9%), Rivne (26,3%), Kherson (26,2%), Volyn (25,9%) regions.
The main drivers of wage growth were the adaptation of the spheres of economic activity to the conditions and challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as an increase in the minimum wage from January 1, 2021 to UAH 6000.
The highest average salary level in March was recorded in Kyiv (20 UAH), Donetsk (132 UAH), Zaporozhye (15 UAH), and Dnipropetrovsk (907 UAH) regions, the lowest - in Zhytomyr Region (13 UAH 721).
The highest salary was received by workers in the field of information and telecommunications - UAH 25, financial and insurance activities - UAH 504, professional, scientific and technical activities - UAH 24.
