Ukraine's free trade agreement with Great Britain, concluded in 2020, comes into effect on January 1. This was reported by the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine.
In particular, the document will provide free access to the British market for 98% of Ukrainian production, and from 2023, another 2% will be liberalized for Ukraine.
"This is a significant event for us, because it was important not only to sign the Agreement with Great Britain, but also to coordinate it with the European Union, taking into account the association agreement signed earlier. We managed to achieve good results, since our indicators of trade with the European Union were not changed", - noted Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Igor Petrashko.
And he added that this agreement will significantly improve the balance and structure of bilateral trade between Ukraine and the United Kingdom, provide convincing opportunities for business and beneficial cooperation with Ukrainian partners.
Also, employees of the Ministry of Economy are preparing for new agreements with Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Vietnam, Indonesia and China. In addition, Ukraine expands opportunities for preferential export of goods to the markets of the EU, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Georgia within the framework of the PanEuroMed Regional Convention.
Among the other results of international cooperation is the activation of the "industrial visa-free" work, which will provide additional trade preferences for Ukrainian exporters, and the recognition of the Ukrainian seed certification system by the EU countries, which allows Ukraine to fully participate in the international seed trade.
"This is a step towards recognizing that Ukrainian agricultural production will continue to expand its presence on the European market," the minister emphasized.
