The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a resolution that allows foreign universities to open their branches in Ukraine. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
As noted by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science for European Integration Andriy Vytrenko, higher education institutions of Ukraine actively continue to integrate into the European educational space. In order to be one step closer to the European Union, we are opening new borders.
"Therefore, from now on the territory of Ukraine, the possibility of forming territorial structural subdivisions of foreign higher educational institutions is provided. Thus, the best international practices in the field of higher education will be implemented in Ukrainian universities as well," the official said.
At the same time, in accordance with Part 9 of Article 33 of the Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education", there is a restriction on the creation and functioning of territorially separate structural subdivisions of higher educational institutions in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Dnipro and Odessa.
In order to obtain permission to establish a branch, a foreign university must submit relevant documents to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. It is noted that a foreign university must be included in one of the international rankings of QS World University Rankings, The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Academic Ranking of World Universities — World Top 500 Universities and occupy a place not lower than 3000.
We would like to add that permission to create a territorially separated structural subdivision of a foreign institution of higher education will not be granted to universities from Russia.
