The war with the occupier has been going on for six months and there is every reason to believe that it will continue in the autumn-winter period. Therefore, millions of Ukrainians are now concerned about the main problem - how to survive the coming winter.
Mykhailo Pozhivanov, doctor of technical sciences, professor and head of the Odesa city party organization of VO "Batkivshchyna" told about the problems that Ukrainians may face during the heating season and beyond in the "ElitExpert" commentary.
"I want to appeal to the residents of Odesa and other settlements of the country. Very often, our people think that all troubles will somehow "fix" themselves - but not in our current situation. Therefore, if there is a danger to health, and even more so to life, I do not recommend waiting, as they say, "it will pass" and everything will be fine. If there is an opportunity - go. The situation will improve - come back, because life is the most important," he said.
Mykhailo Pozhivanov noted that now there is a place to move in our country: temporary housing is being arranged for displaced persons and social assistance is provided:
"Both local authorities, the government, and volunteers take care of displaced persons and provide various assistance. Therefore, moving temporarily should be considered normal, even if your apartment or your own small business is the only thing you have. The main thing is to save life for yourself and your loved ones."
Mykhailo Pozhivanov added that he personally knows many tragic cases, especially in Mariupol - when people waited until the last moment and did not leave, but then their apartments or houses were destroyed, and they died under the debris and rubble. Thus, people and housing were not saved, and they were not saved.
"Now, talking to many leaders of cities and communities in which mandatory evacuation is taking place due to the impossibility of spending the heating season there, we have to hear many stories when today 50 people are evacuated, and tomorrow 100 return on their own... But people should realize their responsibility not only for your home, and above all for your life and the lives of your loved ones.
Unfortunately, the occupiers, using the examples of Mariupol, Gostomel, Buchi, Irpen, Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, have already shown that human life is worthless to them. There are no norms and rules for waging war, no conventions for them. These are barbarians who destroy everything in their path. Therefore, a lot depends on the person himself and his well-considered decision.
In addition, today both for the authorities and for the people, the issue of the counteroffensive, which we are all waiting for, is important. The question is complex and difficult. And seeing the situation at the front, one must understand that we can enter the active phase of hostilities and into the heating season. And this is another difficult test for both the people and the government. And how we can go through this period as painlessly as possible, both the government and the people themselves should think.
As for Odesa, fortunately, everything is calm in the city today, and during the entire period of the war, the city and its inhabitants suffered minimally. And I really want to hope that it will be so," said the head of the Odessa city organization of the "Batkivshchyna" VO.
