The situation in the region of the Joint Forces operation is under control, there are no drastic changes.
This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ruslan Khomchak, writes Interfax Ukraine.
"The situation in the OOS is under control today, and there are no drastic changes there. There were no signs of the creation of enemy offensive groups either. Today, the 211th day of the full and comprehensive ceasefire regime continues," Khomchak said at a press conference in Kyiv on Monday.
According to him, the ceasefire regime is implemented "mainly by the Armed Forces and, unfortunately, it is not fully implemented by our enemy, the armed formations of the Russian Federation, which are in uncontrolled territory."
"On some sections of the demarcation line, provocative shelling is taking place. Along the entire line of collision, they are sometimes subsiding (IF character), sometimes they are activated. These shelling of our positions, as well as peaceful settlements both on our territory and on temporarily uncontrolled territory, are activated, as a rule, during the meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group. And now we observe it (I already said it) after the decisions of the Council of Rational Security and Defense of Ukraine on the introduction of sanctions against the relevant persons or the relevant companies," said Khomchak
He emphasized that the main purpose of the provocations by the occupiers is aimed at creating the illusion of shelling by armed forces of populated areas with the use of prohibited heavy weapons and discrediting the forces of the OOS.
"Ukrainian servicemen in the area of operation are in stable positions, they strictly adhere to accepted agreements and norms of international humanitarian law, especially regarding security guarantees for the civilian population and for the maintenance or renewal of infrastructure on both sides," Khomchak emphasized.
He added that units of the Armed Forces are always ready to open fire in response to threats to their lives or health, as well as to deter the enemy from conducting any active actions.
As reported earlier, Khomchak reported on the death of one and the wounding of another soldier of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donbas as a result of shelling of Ukrainian positions by Russian mercenaries from an anti-tank grenade launcher.
