Six sailors, previously captured by pirates on the ship Curacao Trader, landed in Odessa on the morning of September 8. This was reported in the press service of the Odessa Border Guard.
The sailors were held captive by the pirates for more than a month.
They were met and processed through a separate expedited procedure so that the Odessans could finally be reunited with their families.
Let us remind you that on July 17, pirates attacked a tanker with Ukrainians on board off the coast of Nigeria. In hostages gripped 15 members of the ship's crew, among whom were citizens of Ukraine.
Later, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified the details of the seizure. The attack on the tanker took place in the point farthest from the coast among all previously recorded cases of piracy in the Gulf of Guinea.
Moryakov managed to be released only on August 20. It took another three weeks to return them to their families.
