At night, a bloody terrorist attack took place near the Western Wall in Jerusalem, an unknown assailant fired at a bus with people.
Authorities said shots were fired at the bus on the road near the Western Wall, as well as in a nearby parking lot near King David's Tomb, outside the Old City's Zion Gate.
As a result of the terrorist attack, seven people were injured, among the wounded during the attack was a 35-year-old pregnant woman who was shot while sitting in a nearby car, Jewish media reported. Doctors described her abdominal injury as "complicated" and life-threatening. Shaare Zedek Hospital said she had an emergency delivery and the newborn was in critical but stable condition.
Four members of the Satmar Hasidic family, who had arrived from the United States as tourists on Wednesday, were also reported to be among the injured.
"The bus was full, jammed. I stopped at the bus stop near the tomb of King David, and then I heard shooting, people started screaming, people were injured inside the bus," said bus driver Daniel Kanievskyi.
The driver said he wanted to go but couldn't because passengers were helping a wheelchair-bound woman onto the bus and a lowered ramp was blocking the doors from closing.
Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lyon inspected the scene early this morning, met with Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai and Turgeman, and said he believed the police had "already laid hands on the despicable terrorist of the night."
