Students of foreign universities can no longer travel abroad during martial law

The restriction came into effect on September 14

Ukrainian male students studying abroad can no longer leave Ukraine during martial law.

Such a decision was made by the highest military leadership of the state, said Andriy Demchenko, the spokesman of the State Border Service.

"Previously, back in March, the decision of the top military leadership of Ukraine considered giving the opportunity to those students who had already studied until February 24 to continue their studies, and the border guards complied with this norm," Andriy Demchenko.

The restriction came into effect on September 14. The DPSU explained that such a decision was made due to mass falsification of documents.

"In recent months, mass falsification of documents allegedly confirming men's studies abroad has begun. That is why male students are not allowed across the border today," Demchenko said.

About 600 such documents were discovered only during July and August.

Also, Demchenko added with reference to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of January 27, 1995 on the rules for crossing the state border by citizens of Ukraine, that this category of men is not included in the list of exceptions that allow leaving the country.

Sptiker said that the situation may change if the document is amended accordingly.
