The commander of the 28th separate mechanized brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign, Colonel Vitaly Gulyaev, died heroically while defending Ukraine in the south of the country.
Several People's Deputies and the fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, announced this.
Under his leadership, the fighters of the brigade repelled attempts to land marine landings in Odesa and Mykolaiv regions. They also stopped the attack on Mykolaiv and liberated the settlements of the Kherson region.
It is known that Vitaly Gulyaev assumed the position of commander of the Odessa 28th Brigade in September 2021. He fought on the front line since 2014.
Under his leadership, the fighters of the brigade repelled attempts to land marine landings, stopped the enemy's advance on Mykolaiv, crowded out the invaders and liberated settlements in the Kherson region.
"I appeal to the people of Odessa, the mayor of Odessa, the city council. Support our team's initiative to rename one of Odessa's streets in honor of Colonel Gulyaev. His brigade did a lot to protect the city. And will do even more," wrote Poroshenko on his Facebook page.
