Olga Yurchenko: "We want to open a center in Odessa to support people with musculoskeletal disorders"

Successful businesswoman and public figure Olga Yurchenko, who cannot imagine her life without Odessa, sees one of the main problems of the city's infrastructure in the fact that South Palmyra is practically unequipped for people with limited physical capabilities.

Olga has a lot of experience with such people, so our heroine understands how to help Odessans in a similar situation.

— Odessa is my favorite city! I would like that with joint efforts we could improve the ego. In Europe, observing the comfortable life of people with a violation of the musculoskeletal system, the word restrictions does not come to mind. People live a full life, they visit museums, theaters, restaurants, festivals, they move easily and comfortably by public transport, and others accept them as people without peculiarities, equal members of society. Everyone is equal in Europe. We must use the best examples so that our life can play with other colors. Odessa has the right to be the best European city in Ukraine! What is Europe? This is what we admire when we return from trips, but we do not take into account that Europe is inside a person. It is not the government that cleans up garbage, takes care of disadvantaged people, most of the support is provided by the people, society, with the help of the authorities.

— We always expect an ideal result from the government and exactly on time. We always blame the country's leadership when something goes wrong. Officials should do everything for us, but we don't even think about the fact that we can decide and do a lot ourselves. Accessibility is one of the most striking indicators that society exists at a high European level! All citizens are equal, even those with congenital diseases, or are limited, or for some reason cannot do something that others can do...

— In Odessa, these people do not have access to a comfortable life in the city, like other citizens. I don't see that there are any relevant events in Odessa, such as excursions. The Harmony Rehabilitation Center, which today bears the name of Rai Panasyuk, in Vinnytsia organizes dance competitions, sports events, open-air cinemas, and educational excursions with enviable regularity. They give everyone the opportunity to be equal. It is necessary to help many people in Odessa, according to statistics, more than 55 thousand people with musculoskeletal disorders of all categories live in the city.

— I understand that there is a need to create specialized centers, introduce training programs, so that people with functional limitations can realize themselves professionally, reveal their creative potential. You also need to provide psychological help, find the right words to lift your spirits. Of course, it is necessary to take into account financial support. In general, such projects should be launched both at the expense of the budget and with the funds of charitable organizations.

— I was personally acquainted with Raisa Panasyuk, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Ukraine. She was among people with musculoskeletal disorders, but, unfortunately, she passed away a few years ago. At the moment, Elena Chernobryvenko continues her case.

Raisa developed such programs, which we mentioned earlier, did a great job, she often traveled abroad, representing our country. I really want her business to develop further. Because how we treat people, so they will treat us.

Olga Yurchenko and her like-minded people plan to organize a specialized rehabilitation center in Odessa. Our heroine is inspired by the working methods of the Harmony Rehabilitation Center. Rai Panasyuk", we referred to it above, this place can serve as an excellent example for imitation.

"If the people of Odessa have ideas for the implementation of a similar project, we are ready to listen to all interested parties and start a discussion. We are initiating a round table at which we will gather everyone who is interested in such a center, take into account all wishes and start implementing the plan," commented Olga Yurchenko.
