NATO will conduct Air Defender 2023, the largest aviation exercise in its history

The training will last from June 12 to 23, 2023

NATO countries will conduct the largest aviation exercises in their history, Air Defender 2023. The exercises will last from June 12 to 23, 2023.

The training will take place under the leadership of Germany, and operational points will be located in the Czech Republic, Estonia and Latvia. They will focus on operational and tactical level field training. It is reported broker US National Guard.

According to US Air Force Lt. Gen. Michael Loch, the planned air exercises test not only the interoperability of NATO countries to work together, but also the ability to quickly deploy and use coalition aircraft.

In addition to Germany and the USA, 22 allied countries will take part in the exercises. About 220 aircraft of 23 types are planned to be used. This makes Air Defender 2023 the largest air force deployment exercise since NATO was founded in 1949.

"Strategic and tactical interoperability with our allies and partners are key elements of credible deterrence, as is demonstrating a combat-ready, assertive and effective Air Force," a US Air Force spokesman said.

He added that participation in the exercises is a demonstration of an unwavering commitment to collective security and a desire for lasting peace and stability in the region.
