Oleksandr Lukashenko stated that he did not provide any security guarantees for the head of the "Wagner" PMC Yevhen Prigozhin. Wrote about it edition "Belta".
"To answer this question directly: I should not ensure Prigozhin's safety. This is the first. Secondly, the conversation never took place in this vein," he said.
According to him, Prigozhin never asked him for security guarantees for himself. He also claims that Vladimir Putin was not involved in the crash of Prigozhin's plane.
As Lukashenko stated, he communicated with Prigozhin twice during and after the mutiny that took place in June 2023. At first he called him when the units of the Wagnerites were going to Moscow. Then he warned that he "will lose himself and his people." He also offered to send him "a rope and a bar of soap." The leader of the mercenaries assured him that he was not ready to commit suicide - he wanted to "die in battle."
The second time they talked, it seems, was in Belarus. Prigozhin flew in together with Dmytro Utkin, commander of the "Wagner" PMK. He did not share the details of the conversation, only voiced his brief warning: "Guys, look."
Lukashenko noted that Putin is unlikely to be involved in the crash of Prigozhin's business jet. He said that he “cannot imagine that Putin did it, that Putin is to blame. Too rough, unprofessional work, for that matter.”
