A minibus with contraband cigarettes was detained in the Odesa region. This was reported in the press service of the General State University.
A 49-year-old resident of Razdelnoi was transporting almost 40 parcels that entered Ukraine illegally. All of them had inscriptions in Ukrainian, Belarusian and Romanian and were without excise stamps. The driver did not have any documents for the cargo.
Law enforcement officers established that the cigarettes were planned to be sold in local markets.
"The cargo was seized and handed over to the representatives of Odessa customs for a legal decision. The total amount of the estimate was about 850 thousand hryvnias," said Ivanna Plantovskaya, an officer of the press service of the Southern Regional Department of the State Border Service of Ukraine.
Law enforcement officers are investigating the origin of contraband cigarettes.
