China admitted that the "Daggers" of the Russian Federation lose to the Patriot systems - Newsweek

The Russian "Kinjal" missiles did not become the turning point in the war with Ukraine that the Kremlin had hoped for. More and more Chinese analysts are coming to this conclusion.

As he writes Newsweek, Chinese defense experts are disappointed with the performance of Russia's Dagger hypersonic missiles, especially when it comes to their survivability against the American Patriot air defense systems used by Ukraine.

"Beijing is taking note, analysts say, because the same US-made anti-aircraft missile system is deployed in Taiwan, whose military has more than a dozen batteries in addition to domestically-made air defense systems." - says the publication.

It is indicated that the war launched by Russia against Ukraine gave the Pentagon and the People's Liberation Army of China a chance to assess the extent to which Moscow's military machine stands up to the weapons of the East.

"Observers believe that China is paying close attention to the successes and failures of its Russian ally, as well as Ukrainian forces equipped with American weapons, to prepare its forces for a potential clash with the United States over the future of self-governing Taiwan." - the publication notes.

Patriot complexes successfully shoot down "Daggers"

The publication, citing Ukrainian and American officials, noted that U.S.-supplied Patriot missiles began intercepting the Daggers shortly after Kyiv received the launchers last spring, raising serious questions about what kind of wartime advantage those could have given Russia. rockets

Chinese analyst Yin Jie wrote the following in one of the issues of the Ordnance Industry Science and Technology magazine about the downed Dagger missiles: "There is more and more evidence that what the US and Ukraine are saying on this issue is true."

In addition, Yin stated that the Daggers' ability to change course in the atmosphere at long distances is "inadequate". Analysts also say that the Daggers were largely based on 1980s technology and are likely to be very limited in number now.

China fears Patriot

Along with China, the US is also collecting a lot of analytical data on Ukraine, which will help to improve its missile potential in the future and at the same time will give Beijing cause for concern, writes Newsweek with reference to observers.

"The real concern of the People's Liberation Army of China is probably what the Ukrainian war means for the improvement of the existing US air defense system and the development of next-generation missiles," - said Jan Kallberg, a senior researcher at the think tank of the Center for European Policy Analysis.

According to him, such improvements as the further improvement of the interception algorithm of the Patriot missile will only increase the headache for Beijing. And this is a problem, because the arsenal of the Chinese armed forces includes a lot of systems based on Russian technologies.
