The number of NABU employees will increase by one and a half times

NABU

The number of NABU staff will increase from 700 to 1000 people

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed bills on the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, which are necessary to implement the recommendations of the European Commission. The cards testify to this all three laws on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.

The Law on NABU provides for an increase in the maximum number of staff of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine from 700 to 1000 people. In particular, the number of senior staff should increase from 500 to 750 people.

According to the law on the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, the SAP is removed from the structure of the Prosecutor General's Office and reorganized into a separate prosecutor's office in the general system of prosecutor's offices with the status of a separate legal entity under public law.

Changes to the competitive selection procedure for the positions of the head, his deputies and prosecutors of the SAP are also foreseen.

The Law on the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption provides for the ability of the National Anti-Corruption Agency to inspect property acquired for public service and to inspect property acquired by declarants prior to appointment to a public service position, without prejudice to the rules applicable to national security during martial law.

It will be recalled that on November 8, the European Commission recommended opening accession negotiations with Ukraine, but put forward four requirements for such a decision.

Among them is to adopt the government draft law on increasing the number of staff of NABU and to exclude from the law on prevention of corruption the provisions that limit the authority of NAKC to check "already checked" assets and property acquired by declarants before entering the public service.

In addition to the "anti-corruption" laws, Zelenskyi on Friday signed the law on changes to the legislation on national minorities, which take into account the recommendations of the European Commission and are necessary for further progress towards EU membership.
