4 separate bills: Speaker Johnson presented plans to help Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan and national security

USA

The current plan does not include any provisions on the border with Mexico

House Speaker Mike Johnson introduced four separate bills to fund US aid to Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and other national security priorities.

As of The Hill, that Johnson unveiled his plan to pass foreign aid through the House during a closed-door session of the House GOP on Monday. This happened after several months of postponing any decisions on this topic.

According to two Republican lawmakers at the meeting, the plan is to move the four bills under one procedural rule that would allow for an amendment process.

According to The Hill, a fourth national security bill would include:

— the ban on TikTok,
— a provision that would allow the US to use confiscated Russian assets to help Ukraine,
— act of lend-lease for military aid,
— and convertible loans to facilitate humanitarian aid.

At the same time, it is noted that the current plan does not contain any provisions on the border with Mexico, said the representative of "Republicans" Kevin Hearn. And this may provoke criticism from hard-line conservatives, who argue that any aid to Ukraine must be combined with legislation to resolve the situation on the southern border.
