Humane, a startup organized by ex-Apple employees and promising a revolutionary gadget that will "change the way people interact with smartphones," has held its first demonstration of its product.
The device turned out to be quite unusual - it is attached to clothes and projects a virtual display on the palm or other surface. At the same time, the miniature device works independently of the smartphone: most likely, it connects to the cloud service directly.
Functions include calls, translator, voice assistant and recognition of surrounding objects. For example, the device can scan a product in a store and answer questions about it - this is possible thanks to the wide application of artificial intelligence algorithms.
How much this revolutionary device will cost and when it will go on sale is still unknown. It is known that in five years the startup Humane has already attracted $240 million, and investors include Microsoft and the creators of the "intelligent" chatbot ChatGPT OpenAI.
Meanwhile, Apple itself is developing some kind of gadget that will replace people's smartphones and laptops. Most likely, we are talking about augmented reality (AR) glasses that can be worn without taking them off all day.
However, the company is still far from such a gadget - first they have to finish creating the Reality Pro mixed reality headset. Its release is expected already this year, and the main feature will be the ability to quickly switch between virtual (XR) and augmented reality (AR) modes.
