The director general of Israel's Ministry of Defense said that Israel aims to use its technological achievements to become a "superpower" in the application of artificial intelligence (AI), including and for military purposes. He cited GPT (generative pre-trained transformer) and AGI (artificial general intelligence) as areas of deep research that the civilian AI industry is working on and that may eventually have military applications.
"There are people who see AI as the next revolution that will change the face of warfare on the battlefield," Zamir noted.
According to him, "the mission is to turn Israel into a superpower in the field of AI and become the leader of a very limited number of world powers that are part of this club."
