The senior assistant of the captain of a foreign vessel was informed of suspicion of pollution of the water area of the Yuzhny port.
According to the materials of the investigation, at the end of April, palm oil was discharged from the ship into the water. In connection with the violation of the requirements for unloading the vessel, almost 8,5 tons of pollutants got into the water.
According to environmentalists, the damage to the state was 65 million hryvnias.
As part of criminal proceedings, part 2 of Art. 243 (pollution of the sea) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the senior assistant of the captain of the sea vessel was informed of the suspicion of committing a crime. Investigations are ongoing to bring to justice all involved persons and to compensate the state for the losses caused.
