President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree that puts into effect the decision of the National Security Council to vaccinate the population of Ukraine against the coronavirus by the end of 2021. This was reported by the press service of the head of state.
"According to the decision of the National Security Council, the Cabinet of Ministers must ensure the development and approval of the National Vaccination Plan against COVID-19, taking into account the best international experience, within seven days," the message says.
In addition, the minimum number of monthly vaccinations will be established, the sources and deadlines for the delivery of vaccines will be determined, and a plan will be developed, according to which the majority of the adult population of Ukraine should receive a vaccine against the coronavirus by December 2021.
It is noted that the ultimate goal of the plan is "vaccination coverage of the majority of the adult population of Ukraine no later than December 2021 for the formation of collective immunity to the coronavirus."
The government will also be instructed to conduct negotiations with the world's producers of vaccines against the coronavirus and to attract international assistance for the campaign to vaccinate the population. According to the decision of the National Security Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must take measures to increase the effectiveness of cooperation with foreign countries with the aim of supplying Ukraine with vaccines against the coronavirus.
Let us remind you that if the current pace of vaccination is maintained, it will take about 5 years to cover the majority of the adult population of Ukraine.
