Turkey urgently returned the requirement for PCR tests for passengers from Ukraine

This decision was published on the night of May 31, just a few hours before the new rules came into force.

On June 1, the Turkish authorities reinstated the requirement to pass PCR tests for passengers from Ukraine. This is reported by Avianews.com.

The decision of the Turkish authorities is recorded in the message for the flight crew NOTAM No. A2932/21. It was published on the night of May 31, just a few hours before the new rules came into force.

Now the passenger must pass a PCR test before departing for Turkey. No more than 72 hours should pass from the moment of passing the analysis to the moment of crossing the Turkish border.

As an alternative, the Turkish authorities allow an express test for the antigen of the coronavirus. But its validity period is shorter - no more than 48 hours should pass from the moment the sample is taken for analysis to the moment it crosses the Turkish border.

Passengers who have completed a full course of vaccination against COVID-19 and have an official document to this effect may not be tested for coronavirus. At least 14 days should pass from the moment of receiving the last dose of vaccine.

Also, instead of the test, you can provide a certificate that the person has contracted COVID-19 in the last 6 months.

In addition, the Turkish authorities will carry out selective PCR testing of passengers for coronavirus. After a sample is taken from the person, he will be allowed to continue his journey. If the test shows a positive result, i.e. the presence of coronavirus in the body, the traveler will be treated according to the protocol of the Ministry of Health of Turkey.

The test for coronavirus may not be done by passengers who are connecting at airports in Turkey to third countries, as well as by aircraft crews.

Note that if earlier children up to the age of 6 were included in the preferential category, but now they are not included in the excluded list — that is, the PCR test is required even from infants.

We would like to remind you that until today, June 1, 2021, Ukrainian tourists did not need to take a coronavirus test to enter Turkey, self-isolation upon arrival was also not required. It was only necessary to fill out a special online form 72 hours before the trip to Turkey.
