During the period of martial law, patients with SARS or COVID-19 symptoms were given the opportunity to remotely open sick leave for a period of up to 5 calendar days.
The Ministry of Health recalled that such a rule was in effect during the pandemic: during this period, in order to minimize contacts, doctors could form medical conclusions about temporary incapacity without a personal appointment, but only on the basis of the symptoms indicated by the patient during remote communication.
Now this norm is returning. It will operate during martial law and for three months after its termination.
"This means that in case of symptoms of COVID-19, flu or SARS, the patient can contact the doctor by telephone, Internet telephony or telemedicine, and the doctor, based on the patient's application and survey, will open a medical conclusion on temporary incapacity for work for a period of 5 calendar days". - said Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine for Digital Development Maria Karchevych.
If the sick leave needs to be extended for a period of more than 5 calendar days, the patient must appear for a personal appointment with the doctor, the Ministry of Health adds.
To prescribe treatment, the doctor can also write an electronic prescription remotely.
