The Minister of Culture of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko criticized the episode of the Netflix series "Emily in Paris" because of the caricature of a Ukrainian woman. In it, Petra, a woman from Kiev, looks poorly educated, steals clothes and fears deportation from France.
Tkachenko said that he was preparing a mourning for Netflix.
"Europeans and Americans should have heard about our artists and not only that. At least about conductor Oksana Lyniv, tennis player Elina Svitolina, singer Jamala, designer Vyta Kin... But that's probably not enough. And we will have to continue to fight against stereotypes," the minister noted.
In turn, representatives of the company in Ukraine stated that "Netflix does not comment on this matter"
