Eduard Poletaev, a well-known Kazakh political scientist and public figure, spoke about the republic's political position regarding the start of a full-scale war between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
He said that nobody from Kazakhs wants the relations between the two states to reach such a dire situation.
"I think that Kazakhstan will offer some peace-making formats. This is emphasized in his foreign policy concept for 2020-2030. We understand that the Minsk agreements are not working and no one is going to implement them. But I do not know whether the Astana format will be accepted in Ukraine, since Ukrainian foreign policy is entirely oriented towards Europe and the USA. Here, Ukraine only needs trade and ideological support of its power, but there is no active penetration into Central Asia on its part," the expert notes.
Eduard Poletaev assures that today Kazakhstan is ready to intervene in the relations between Russia and Ukraine and to help them will finally resolve the situation with Donbass. The fact is that this military situation, which blocks both partnership and economic issues, is not beneficial to the Kazakhs themselves.
