The Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine will change the design of the 1 and 2 hryvnia coins. This is due to the frequent complaints of Ukrainians who do not like the fact that these coins are difficult to distinguish from one another. NBU head Alexey Shaban told about this at a briefing on December 7.
According to Shaban, the NBU regularly receives complaints from Ukrainian citizens. Metal coins with denominations of 1 and 2 hryvnias turned out to be inconvenient to use, especially for the elderly and those suffering from visual impairment.
Therefore, the National Bank of Ukraine will change the design of the coins, making them as convenient as possible. The new coins will become more tactile so that Ukrainians with poor eyesight do not get confused when calculating with these coins.
"To find a solution to this issue, a working group was created, which included experts from the National Bank of Ukraine and representatives of the President of Ukraine's Commissioner for the Rights of People with Disabilities, the UTOS Rehabilitation Center and other public organizations representing the interests of people with visual impairments," Shaban said. .
At the same time, he did not announce the timing of the introduction of modified coins.
