In Ukraine, they plan to start construction of irrigation systems that will protect farmers from bad weather conditions

Next year, it is expected to expand the "Big construction" program

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at its regular meeting adopted decisions aimed at developing the national agro-industrial complex. This is reported on the government website.

Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said that the government is starting to unify the regulatory framework for environmentally safe irrigation, irrigation and drainage.

"Our agrarians and farmers constantly turned to the government with a request to create an effective system for the construction of irrigation projects. Therefore, for the next year, together with the president, we planned to expand the "Big Construction" program specifically to the creation of irrigation systems in the southern regions of Ukraine," he emphasized.

According to the Prime Minister, such systems should increase productivity and protect farmers from adverse weather conditions.

Also, during the meeting, the government approved a draft law, which provides for changes in the legislation regarding the support of farms.

"Among the main innovations that we propose is to legislatively recognize the priority of state support for farms whose head is under 35 years old. Because we now have more than 30 active farms, and only about 500 of them are headed by young people," Shmyhal noted.

The head of the government emphasized that the number of such farms should at least double in the coming years, and the state should actively help them.
