The General Staff of the Armed Forces gave an explanation regarding the new legislation of Ukraine on reduction of the conscription age.
As noted in the message General Staff in Telegram, the President of Ukraine signed the Law of Ukraine dated 30.05.2023 No. 3127-IX "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On Military Duty and Military Service", which reduced the age of citizens on the military register of conscripts from 27 to 25 years.
"In particular, citizens who have reached the age of 25 will be subject to removal from the military register of conscripts and inclusion in the military register of conscripts. The improvement of the organization of military registration of conscripts is carried out in the context of reforming the system of preparing citizens for military service and readiness to fulfill the constitutional duty to protect the Motherland." — the message says.
The General Staff also notes that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the first reading the draft Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding Certain Issues of Military Service, Mobilization, and Military Registration" (No. 10449 of January 30.01.2024, 24), which provided for the abolition of fixed-term military service and the introduction of basic military service and basic combined military training instead. In particular, the draft law envisages the possibility for conscripts to choose a year of basic military service before they reach the age of XNUMX.
"Taking into account the above, the stay of citizens on the military register of conscripts until they reach the age of 27 has lost its relevance and has been reduced to 25 years," — writes the General Staff.
Attention is drawn to the fact that with the entry into force of the above-mentioned Law of Ukraine, territorial recruitment centers will call citizens who were on the military register of conscripts and reached the age of 25 to clarify their registration data, pass a medical examination and issue relevant military registration documents.
The General Staff also notes that during April-May, conscripts in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Service of Transport and other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine are released and released. This is in compliance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated 07.03.2024 No. 149/2924 "On the release of conscript military servicemen into the reserve".
"A total of about 7 people are subject to dismissal in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service", — informs the General Staff.
