The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, signed the decree "On strengthening the state's defense capability and the attractiveness of the military service." The head of state said this in the Verkhovna Rada.
The decree provides:
- an increase in the monetary support of the military at the level of no lower than three minimum wages;
- transition of Ukraine to the basics of a professional army;
- extension of the validity period of contracts;
- development of concepts for housing provision of servicemen, veterans and members of their families;
- development of a career growth system for officers;
- increase in the number of the Armed Forces during the next three years by 100 thousand people;
- 20 more brigades will be created.
According to the president, this decree is the beginning of our country's transition to a professional army.
"This is the start of the country's transition to a professional army not because there will soon be a war. This decree is for the sake of peace soon and in the future. I am happy to sign this decree," the president said.
After these words, the head of state signed this decree in the presence of people's deputies.
