The US House of Representatives approved the law on financial and military aid to Ukraine: when will we get weapons and money

The US gave the "green light" to military aid to Ukraine

The US House of Representatives (one of the Republican-majority houses of Congress), after more than six months of blocking military and financial aid to Ukraine, finally approved the legislative package worth more than $60 billion that Kyiv needed.

The House of Representatives of the US Congress passed a $60,84 billion aid package to Ukraine, after the document HR 8035 "The Act on Additional Appropriations for the Security of Ukraine" won the support of congressmen. This became known from the broadcast of the vote on April 20

311 congressmen voted "for". Of them, 210 are Democrats and 101 are Republicans. 112 congressmen opposed the initiative. Seven members of the House did not vote.

American money will be distributed according to the following scheme:

— $23,2 billion to replenish American military stocks, from which Ukraine used to receive weapons
— $11,3 billion for the current activities of the US military in the region (in particular, the training of Ukrainian servicemen)
— $13,8 billion for procurement for Ukrainian armed forces and provision of defense services
— $26 million for continued oversight and accountability for assistance and equipment provided to Kyiv

Now the entire package of four projects must be approved by the Senate. Senate Speaker Democrat Chuck Schumer has already announced that the meeting to approve the aid will take place on April 23. Then President Joe Biden has to put his signature.

In any case, aid for Ukraine should be finally unblocked no later than the end of April.

"The US Senate should approve a bill on aid to Ukraine as soon as possible so that Washington sends weapons to Ukraine as soon as possible," - Biden emphasized.

The project is already going to the Senate, writes the White House press service.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi reacted to the decision of the US House of Representatives, which approved the draft law on financing aid to Ukraine.

"I am grateful to the US House of Representatives, to both parties, and to Speaker Mike Johnson personally, for a decision that preserves the correct course of history. Democracy and freedom will always matter in the world and will never be defeated as long as America helps protect them." - emphasized the president.

He emphasized that "today (April 20 - ed.) a vitally important draft law was passed, which will help prevent the spread of war, save thousands and thousands of lives, and also make the people of Ukraine and the United States stronger."
