Shipwreck hunters have discovered the wreckage of a ship that sank 350 years ago in the Great Lakes of the United States, which is called a "ghost ship" or "cursed" ship. This is reported by the Daily Express.
Now the exact cause of the shipwreck is not named by the researchers. It is assumed that the ship sank as a result of a strong multi-day storm.
But there is a version that there was a riot on the ship, and the crew members simply drowned him, grabbed the cargo. However, this is denied by these studies, since no traces of fire were found in the wreckage.
It is known that the ship "Griffon" was built by the Frenchman René-Robert Cavalier to reach the trade routes of China and Japan. However, while delivering valuable fur across Lake Michigan, the ship disappeared without a trace in 1679.
As the publication notes, his disappearance has become one of America's most famous "sea" mysteries. Locals began to say that the ship was cursed by a shaman from the native Iroquois tribe.
The wreckage of the ship was found back in 2018, when scientists did not know about its historical role. Only in 2021, a couple of Americans established the true value of the artifact.
