NASA reported that an asteroid the size of a football field is approaching our planet. Asteroid 2007 UY1 will approach the Earth already tomorrow, February 8.
NASA noted that the space body will be at a distance of slightly more than 5 million km from the planet, which is equal to approximately 14 distances from the Earth to the Moon.
The diameter of the asteroid reaches 150 meters. In addition, scientists assigned it to the "Aton" group, which means that its orbit crosses the Earth from the inside.
However, the asteroid 2007 UY1 was discovered by scientists 15 years ago. And as a result, NASA confidently asserts that the celestial body does not pose any danger to our planet. Moreover, the probability of its collision with the Earth is extremely small.
