Britain begins mass vaccination of the population

Great Britain is the first of the Western countries to start a program of mass vaccination of the population against the coronavirus

Today, December 8, Great Britain is the first of the Western countries to start a program of mass vaccination of the population against the coronavirus.

It is reported with the BBC.

The program is aimed at protecting the most vulnerable groups and returning to normal life. About 70 hospital centers across the country are preparing to give vaccinations with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.

Vaccination will not be mandatory. People over 80 years old, residents of nursing homes and their employees, as well as some medical workers are the first to be vaccinated.

Britain will become the first country in the world to start using Pfizer's vaccine after regulators approved its use last week.

Great Britain purchased 40 million doses of vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech, which is enough to vaccinate 20 million people. Most of the vaccines will arrive next year. At the first stage, the government expects to use 800 doses.

The vaccine is delivered to Britain from Belgium, where it is produced. Each person will receive two injections with a difference of 21 days.
