The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine approved the list of athletes to participate in the Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
According to the NOC, 8 residents of the Odesa region won the relevant licenses, but the weightlifter Anastasiya Lysenko from Chernomorsk contracted the coronavirus. Due to the consequences of the illness, the doctors did not allow the athlete to compete.
As the senior coach of the Ukrainian weightlifting team and the athlete's personal trainer, Yury Kuchynov, said, his protégé is included in the team as a reserve, and the final decision on her participation will be made on July 15.
Thus, seven athletes from the Odesa region are now allowed to participate in the 2020 Olympic Games:
• Iryna Malovichko (bench shooting);
• Anzhelika Terlyuga (karate);
• Anita Seregina (karate);
• Anastasia Todorova (dam);
• Vasyl Mykhaylov (freestyle wrestling);
• Dayana Yastremskaya (tennis);
• Tsotne Rohava (boxing).
In total, Ukraine will be represented at the Olympics by 158 Olympians in 25 sports. The Olympic Games will be held in Tokyo from July 23 to August 8.
Thus, as of July 7, 2020 athletes from the Odesa region must participate in the 7 Olympics: Irina Malovichko (stand shooting), Anzhelika Terlyuga and Anita Seryogina (karate), Anastasia Todorova (rowing), Vasyl Mykhaylov (freestyle wrestling), Dayana Yastremskaya (tennis) and Tsotne Rohava (boxing). The games themselves will be held from 23 July to 8 August, and 158 Ukrainian Olympians competing in 25 sports will gather for them.
Let us remind you that Anastasiya Lysenko bought her ticket to Tokyo received back in November 2019, and a month earlier she has established several records in Thailand at once.
