The authorities in Ukraine recognized e-sports as an official sport. Ukraine now officially takes its place among more than 25 countries in the world where cybersport is recognized as an official sport.
The corresponding decision was made by the commission for the recognition of the sport in Ukraine, said Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation, former deputy of the Odessa City Council Alexander Bornyakov.
"For our country, this is a historic moment, because cybersport has long been not just "shooters", but a fundamental element of modern digital culture. About 600 million people admire him, including millions of Ukrainians," the deputy minister said.
"Besides, Ukraine has a high culture of e-sports and strong players. Our teams regularly win various tournaments around the world. This industry has long since turned into a real business that brings a lot of benefits and opportunities on both a local and global scale," Bornyakov noted.
