Odesa Film Studio completed the production of the film "Why I Lived"

The premiere is planned for autumn

Odesa Film Studio presented to Goskino Ukrainy the finished production of Willen Novak's film "Why I Lived" (the working title of the film was "Now I'm a Turk, not a Cossack..."). This was reported on the official Facebook page of the film studio.

Kynofilm won the 11th pitching of the State Agency for Cinema and received state support. This is one of the largest film projects in Ukraine.

The film shows the life of pre-war Mariupol, difficult relations of coexistence of different nationalities, true friendship and passionate love, events of the Second World War, occupation, collaborationism.

The author of the scenario is the writer and playwright Yevgeny Mytko. The work is autobiographical - Yevgeny himself was born in Mariupol in the 30s and went through the occupation. At the end of the 90s, the screenwriter expressed his desire that only Villen Novak be the director of the film. And for more than 20 years, the script was waiting for implementation.

The director-producer of the film - Villen Novak - People's Artist of Ukraine, film academician and member of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine. Ego is rightfully considered a Soviet and Ukrainian classic of cinematography. He filmed such popular films as "Invasion", "Two Versions of One Collision", "Goo-ha", "Princess on Beans" and others.

As the authors noted, the film was created to open the depths of the human soul. The film calls for patience and humanity, for mutual support and love. By genre, the tape is a tragicomedy.

The film already has a distributor in Ukraine. The national premiere is planned for the fall of 2021.
