On February 15, a house exploded in Fontanka-2 at around 8 o'clock in the evening. At the time of the explosion, the 84-year-old housewife and her 60-year-old son were in the house. No one was hurt.
The emergency gas service arrived at the scene. Her staff conducted an initial examination to find out what caused the accident.
A very clear and clear conclusion was obtained by the initial investigation at the scene of the accident: there are no traces of gas leakage, the inlet pipe is sealed, the boiler is in working condition. Traces of acetylene were found. The explosion occurred in the other part of the house, not where the boiler is located.
— So far, one thing is clear that the primary cause of the explosion is not identified as defects or malfunctions related to the activities of PJSC "Odessagaz". The primary information that came from some mass media that the cause could be low-quality gas, the ignition of the air-gas mixture, is completely untrue. It is too early to name the reason, but it is possible to say that there is no trace of gas in this emergency. An expert opinion will be given by specialists of the State Emergency Service, who are currently engaged in this, said the head of the press service of PJSC "Odessagaz" Vyacheslav Voronkov.
If you examine the photos from the scene in more detail, you can see that indeed the gas stove, gas boiler and meter are intact, so they could not have been the cause of the explosion. But the boiler, which was in the adjacent bathroom, flew out from the explosion. We are waiting for the official conclusion of the experts.
