The largest state flag of the Odessa region was raised this morning at the international airport "Odessa".
At 9 a.m., a 48-square-meter flag was raised on a 50-meter-high flagpole specially built for this purpose.
The event was attended by the head of the Odesa regional administration Sergey Hrynevetskyi, the chairman of the regional council Hryhory Dydenko, his first deputy Oleg Radkovsky and the mayor of Odesa Gennady Trukhanov.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, who was in the Cherkasy region at the time, spoke on the online broadcast.
"I am happy to congratulate all Ukrainians on the Day of the State Flag of Ukraine. Today, thousands of blue-yellow flags were raised simultaneously in all regions and cities of Ukraine and even beyond its borders. For all of us, this is more than just a flag, more than an official attribute - it is a bridge over centuries of struggle for our independence," the president said.
After raising the flag and singing the national anthem, children's dance groups performed on the square.
