Odessa residents did not have time to enjoy the warm days, as forecasters announced a storm warning. According to the Hydrometeorological Center, a positive temperature of 8-2 degrees was expected all day on February 6, but at the same time a strong gusty south-east wind of 15-18 m/s. A light rain fell during the night, due to which the roads were covered with ice.
On the website of the Odessa City Hall, a warning was published, where citizens were asked to limit movement around the city, and also not to travel by personal vehicles without an urgent need.
From 3 o'clock in the morning, the employees of KP "City Roads" cleared the roadway on 54 routes and sprinkled them with a salt-sand mixture - by 8:00, 5 tons had been used.
And according to the information of the Patrol Police, by 12:00 in Odesa there were 25 traffic accidents due to heavy ice. At the intersection of Gagarin and Botanicheskoy streets, the wind blew down a tree, causing a traffic jam. As reported by "Odesgorelektrotrans", the tree broke the trolleybus wires, so traffic on routes No. 9 and No. 7 was suspended.
Odesa Airport was forced to cancel flights from Istanbul and Tel Aviv, and the plane from Boryspil arrived with a delay.
