No one wanted to buy Odesa Colony No. 51

The auction will be held again and large developers are waiting.

The auction for the sale of Southern Correctional Colony No. 25 in Odessa, scheduled for Friday, June 51, was canceled. The reason for this was the lack of people willing to buy a colony complex with an area of almost 6 hectares for 223 million hryvnias.

In turn, the director of the Odesa territorial branch of the State Property Fund, Alexander Slavsky, said that he was very surprised by the absence of participants at the auction, since large developers showed interest in the object.

"What's more, together with our colleagues from the central apparatus of the Fund, we informed IT companies, the largest hoteliers, entrepreneurs in the tourist market and from the sphere of creative industries, we also invited Odessa and Ukrainian developers to participate in the auction," he said.

As Slavsky added, "in a few days, the Fund will carry out the procedures prescribed by law and put the colony up for sale again, at the same price - UAH 223,2 million."

The land area of the colony is 5,983 hectares, the built-up area is 14 square meters. The distance from the colony to the center of Odessa is 482 km, to the sea is 4 km.

In May 2019, this colony suffered during a riot of convicts who set it on fire, after which it was disbanded.
