The representative of the Odesa city council from the "Sharia party" will have to answer for the collected and defiantly placed Ukrainian flags. Police opened criminal proceedings on the fact of abuse of the state symbol.
We are talking about a recent incident when, during an emergency session of Odessa City Council deputies, Ilya Freiman did not want to sit at the table on which Ukrainian flags were placed as a symbol of unity before a possible military invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine. He collected them and threw them aside. The video of the incident was shot by mass media.
The police note that a video of the deputy's concession was found on the Internet and information has already been entered into the ERDR under Part 1 of Article 338 (abuse of the state symbol) of the Criminal Code.
He faces a fine, arrest or a prison term of up to 3 years.
