"Infoksvodokanal" installed European pumps at the main sewage pumping station

As part of the investment program, "Infoksvodokanal" is carrying out a full-scale modernization of the main sewage pumping station.

As part of the investment program, "Infoksvodokanal" is carrying out a full-scale modernization of the main sewage pumping station.

The work was carried out in 3 stages. First, specialists replaced the power supply lines and the transformer substation. This will ensure reliable operation regardless of weather conditions.

At the second stage, the pressure sewer collector in the area of the irrigation fields was replaced. Almost 1000 meters of new fiberglass pipe with a diameter of 1200 mm was laid instead of the old pipe, which had reached its operational limit. The company's specialists note that the service life of fiberglass pipes is much longer than that of steel pipes. It is through these collectors that domestic sewage from the greater part of Odessa is pumped to the "Severnaya" biological treatment station. The wastewater itself, in addition to the aggressive environment, has abrasive particles that contribute to the rapid destruction of the bottom of the pipeline, which is fraught with emergency situations and its damage. There is no such thing in fiberglass, it is more resistant to aggressive drains and to mechanical impact.

And finally, the most important equipment of the station - pumps - was renewed. "Infoksvodokanal" bought and installed 3 European energy-efficient pumps of the company "Grundfos". Unlike the previous ones, the new submersible pumps are unique in their power and reliability, and also allow saving about 30% of electricity.

Director of Infoksvodokanal Igor Lysenko noted that this year the company plans to renew one more pressure collector. Instead, they will lay 1000 meters of a new pipe made of fiberglass, which has proven itself well for the transfer of sewage networks.

Thus, the main sewage pumping station will become another fully renovated energy-efficient facility of the Odessa Water Canal, which will meet European requirements.

For information, the main sewage pumping station is one of the most important sewerage arteries of the water channel. Thanks to it, the operation of almost the entire sewage system of the city is ensured. The pumping station is connected by pressure collectors to the "Severnaya" biological treatment station and pumps about 70% of sewage from the entire city there for subsequent treatment. About 140 cubic meters of wastewater pass through it per day.
