The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Andrey Taran, said that the AN-26 military plane, which crashed in the Kharkiv region, caught the wing on the ground. This is reported by the website of the Ministry of Defense.
"Preliminary analysis indicates that, most likely, the plane's wing stuck to the ground. Everything went according to plan, the plane was performing training flights for training cadets. The pilot-instructor was behind the wheel, the cadets took turns sitting in the right seat next to him to acquire piloting and aircraft control skills," the minister noted.
Andrey Taran noted that, according to a preliminary assessment by flight safety specialists, one of the sensors in the left engine of the aircraft failed. That is, it was not the engine itself that failed, but one of its sensors. The minister also added that the plane's engine had more than five thousand flight hours in reserve before the next repair.
According to Taran, the plane was manufactured in 1977, that is, it is 43 years old. But the machine could fly for another three years without renewing the resource. We are talking about both the engines and the board itself. He also emphasized that during the day of September 25, the plane made six takeoffs and five landings and had to work until 23.00:XNUMX p.m.
Let us remind you that on the evening of September 25, in the Kharkiv region, on the 530th kilometer of the Kyiv-Kharkiv highway, an An-26 military plane crashed near the road and immediately caught fire.
On board were crew members, cadets and officers of the Kharkiv University of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Kozheduba — only 27 people.
