On May 11, beekeepers from Irshava and Vynogradov, Zakarpattia region, sent special packages with bees, queen and brood to customers of "Ukrposhta", but all the bees died. Journalist Vitaliy Glagola reported this on his Facebook page.
"Ukrpochta employees carried 400 special packages in a regular Hyundai truck. Due to the lack of oxygen and compartments for ventilation, all 8 million bees that were in the truck did not survive. It was discovered in Uzhgorod a few hours after the shipment," he wrote.
The beekeepers turned to the police and are going to sue Ukrposhta. The cost of all bees sent by mail on the market is about 500 thousand. hryvnia
There are special conditions for packing bees for shipment on the "Ukrpochta" website. Senders assure that they have adhered to these requirements.
