A dam on the Danube may break: as a result, part of Bessarabia will go under water

The Odesa Regional State Administration held a meeting to prevent the destruction of the protective dam on the 97th kilometer of the Danube River in the Izmail district. It was conducted by the Deputy Chairman of the Odesa Regional Council, Vadym Shkarovsky.

We are talking about the collapse of part of the dam on a site almost 100 meters long, which happened in September.

Now destructive processes continue rapidly. Because of this, there was a threat of a dam breach and flooding of wells. The fact is that they provide drinking water to Izmail and the Safyanov rural community.

In addition, if the dam breaks, the villages of Broska and Matroska and many agricultural lands will be flooded.

As a result, a step-by-step action plan was approved at the meeting.

"At the next session of the Odesa Regional Council, I will submit an appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers about the need for immediate reconstruction of the dam, as it is vitally important for the residents of the Danube regions. I am confident that with joint efforts we will be able to start the reconstruction in the near future," said Vadym Shkarovsky.

According to him, the development of design and estimate documentation, which is planned to be produced during this month, has already begun.

Note that according to officials, to solve this problem it is necessary to allocate funds from the budgets of all levels.
