The Constitutional Court predicts a crisis if Zelensky's bill is adopted

The crisis may negatively affect the work of the parliament

The adoption by the parliament of the draft law proposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky on the dismissal of judges of the Constitutional Court may lead to a parliamentary crisis.

This was stated by the judge of the Constitutional Court, Igor Slydenko, UNN reports.

"The vast majority of political forces, namely all, except the "Servants of the People", in the parliament, will not support such an approach (proposed by the President — ed.). Everyone has their own views on these things, some have one, some others, but in any case, no one wants to go to a clear violation of the Constitution, and a serious violation of the Constitution. Therefore, if indeed such a law is voted, I predict a serious parliamentary crisis," Slydenko said.

Slydenko also said that he had familiarized himself with the alternative draft law of the Speaker of the Parliament Dmitry Razumkov.

"As a compromise option, it could be suitable, but, I emphasize once again, for a transitional period, that is, the main thing in it is that the situation stabilizes for a transitional period, then the parliament makes the appropriate amendments to the legislation, which are required for in order to correct the situation with the unconstitutionality of those norms. Norms will not become constitutional just because they are adopted again. The problem lies in the unconstitutionality of the norms, and not in the KSU, after all," he noted.

According to Slydenko, representatives of the authorities are not interested in making changes to these laws, while the ruling political power has the vision that the "Constitutional Court is interfering with them."

"Today, they generally stated that they do not see the existence of the Constitutional Court before the middle of next year, in the middle of next year they may create a new Constitutional Court. For six months, the country will exist without a body that at least somehow restrained the Verkhovna Rada," said Slydenko.

He added that, in his opinion, the high-profile decision of the KSU "did not cancel the anti-corruption system, did not cancel any body, this decision did not cancel anything, it simply indicated that some norms are considered unconstitutional because they are unconstitutional."

As a reminder, on October 28, the judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine wrote a statement to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov regarding the pressure on them.

Earlier, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine recognized that it does not correspond to the Constitution of Ukraine, Article 366-1 of the UCU, which provides for liability for lies in the declaration. Access to the register of e-declarations was closed.

On October 29, an emergency meeting of the National Security Council was convened. The Secretary of the National Security Council, Alexey Danilov, said that a number of recent events related to the decision of the KSU give good reason to believe that there is a comprehensive plan directed against the foundations of Ukrainian statehood. President Volodymyr Zelensky called on law enforcement officers to establish all the details that led to the decision of the KSU.

On October 29, the Cabinet of Ministers issued an order obliging the National People's Committee to immediately restore citizens' access to the register of declarations.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted a bill to the Verkhovna Rada, which proposes to dismiss all judges of the KSU who made the corresponding decision on October 27, and after that start the process of selecting new judges.
