Saakashvili urged Ukraine to prepare for the loss of Mariupol and Kherson due to the shutdown of TV channels

In his opinion, closing TV channels will not stop the war, but will only bring the conflict to a new level.

The former president of Georgia and the governor of the Odesa region, Mikhail Saakashvili, called on Ukraine to prepare for the loss of Mariupol and Kherson, which, in his opinion, will be captured by Russia. He announced this on the air of the "Ukraine" TV channel.

In this way, the politician commented on the decision of the President of the country, Volodymyr Zelensky, to close three opposition TV channels associated with Medvedchuk.

Saakashvili is confident that such a step will only intensify the conflict in Donbass. In his opinion, closing TV channels will not stop the war, but will only bring the conflict to a new level.

"They will shoot even more, let's not deceive ourselves. They will shoot much more," he said.

Saakashvili also expressed the opinion that in the course of these confrontations, Mariupol and Kherson will move away from Russia. According to Saakashvila, the Russian side needs a "bridgehead" in Ukraine to contain Crimea, supply the peninsula with water, and improve logistics.

Let us remind you that Zelensky implemented the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on the application of sanctions against TV channels "112 Ukraine", ZIK and NewsOne on February 2. He explained his decision by the fact that recently these resources "poured into the ears endless streams of lies." The head of Ukraine urged not to watch TV channels that have already stopped broadcasting and emphasized that the decision was supported by the GXNUMX countries and the EU.

Meanwhile, the UN human rights monitoring mission in Ukraine announced that blocking popular TV channels based on their content "will affect freedom of expression in Ukraine." In turn, the party "Opposition Platform — For Life" (OPZH) started the impeachment procedure against Zelensky, since, in their opinion, he violated the country's constitution and introduced censorship in the mass media.
