The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Thursday, December 17, did not support the resolution on the appointment of Yury Vytrenko as the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine — the Minister of Energy of Ukraine. The corresponding decision was supported by 186 people's deputies of Ukraine.
"The candidate has many years of successful experience in the field of energy, since 2016 he has worked in management positions at NJSC Naftogaz, where, in particular, he was responsible for a successful lawsuit against Gazprom at the Stockholm Arbitration. A deep understanding of the energy sector is necessary to complete a successful ego transformation. This includes the mandate of the First Deputy Prime Minister," Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said during the presentation of the candidate.
Vytrenko himself stated during his speech that he "could not refuse" the Prime Minister, who offered him to become a candidate for the specified position.
